The Galion Fire Department is
located at 301 Harding Way East. When
fully staffed, the Department
has 17 men including the Chief and Fire Inspector. There are 5
firefighters on each of three shifts that work 24 hours on duty and 48
hours off.
The department is headed by Fire
Chief Mick Christini who accepted the position in March 2000, after
serving 10 years in the department.
In addition to fire protection services, the Galion Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Services,
and participates in
a variety of community projects including Fire Safety education and fund
raising for both MDA and Fire prevention programs.
The major goal of the Galion Fire Department is to incorporate the
Ambulance Service into the Fire Department. The
Department is strengthening its Fire Prevention mission by having every
member of the Department take an active role in this important issue.
The Department also hopes to join with other Fire Departments within the
Crawford County area to create an Arson Task Force, a County-wide
Hazardous Materials Team (HAZ-MAT), and a limited Automatic Response
capability.
