MH-R District Rezoned

The current MH-R (Manufactured Home Residential) District was rezoned by City Council on Sept. 10 through Ordinance 2019-57. This district is now classified as R1-D (Single Family Residential).

The new district was created because “The City of Galion recognizes that manufactured housing presents residential options and opportunities, especially related to cost, which are unavailable with conventional site-built housing. The R-1D Single Family Residential District is established to provide a desirable residential environment for manufactured homes, protected from adverse neighboring influences.”

Permitted uses are:

  • One-family detached dwellings.
  • One-family individual manufactured homes as defined by Chapter 1103, built within the last ten (10) years, and placed on a permanent foundation.
  • Public or private parks or playgrounds.

Conditional uses are:

  • Nursery schools and day care centers.
  • Class I Type A group residential facilities.
  • Churches and similar places of public assembly.
  • Garages and outbuildings which do not prohibit the placement of a manufactured home or site-built house.

The boundaries of this district remain the same. It is bordered by Smith Street to the north, Sixth Avenue to the east, Dawsett Avenue to the south, and Murray Street to the west.
