A 14-year-old Galion machine works corporation is poised to expand its workforce by more than half with help from the state. Tramec Sloan, formerly Crawford Machine, has received a 50 percent, six-year tax credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority that will allow it to hire an estimated 90 new full-time workers, as well as invest in new equipment. It currently employs about 135 people. "This doesn't happen very often. It reflects well on our local workforce, as well as the local management team," Galion Mayor Tom O'Leary said.

City officials shared several economic development updates on Monday that included the Uptowne District, a vacant commercial building and bringing a hotel to town. This spring, the city has invited representatives from Heritage Ohio to bring in a Downtown Assessment Resource Team.
